Chunky & Oversized Everything
Big yarn, big hooks, big statements! 🎉
Whether it’s cozy blankets, oversized cardigans, squishy scarves, or statement sweaters, makers embraced chunky and jumbo projects. These projects work up fast and feel like a warm hug.

Sustainability & Eco-Conscious Crafting
Green stitches for a greener planet! 🌿
Organic cottons, bamboo blends, recycled yarns, and scrap-yarn projects have been embraced. Makers sought to align creativity with care for the environment. Some have taken to using plastic bags and t-shirts as repurposed yarn. Others are undoing thrifted sweaters to give new life to the yarn. Certifications became buzzwords in yarn shopping.
OEKO-TEX: Yarns are tested and free from harmful substances, making them safe for sensitive skin, though it doesn't guarantee organic origin.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): A standard about organic fiber content, environmentally sound processing, and strict social criteria for the entire supply chain.
FTC (Fair Trade Certified): Focuses on ethical production, ensuring fair pay, safe environments, and community investment for farmers and workers.
RWS (Responsible Wool Standard): Ensures high animal welfare, land management, and ethical treatment for wool production.
Retro Revival & Granny Square Renaissance
Old soul, new groove! 🌀
Vintage crochet motifs like granny squares, ’70s and ’90s vibes, and heirloom-inspired designs came roaring back. They were reimagined in modern wearables and décor.

Color Play: Earthy, Bold & Unexpected
A rainbow with depth and drama! 🎨
2025’s palette was anchored by warm, earthy neutrals like Mocha Mousse (Pantone’s Color of the Year). These colors were paired with jewel tones, soft pastels, and even neon pops for accents. Gradient, ombre, and hand-dyed skeins kept things vibrant.

Texture Party: Bobbles, Cables & Woven Feels
Touchable textures everywhere! 👀
Tactile stitches like bobbles, puff stitches, raised cables, and front-loop/back-loop play turned simple project backdrops into dimensional delights. Tunisian crochet’s knit-like texture also gained traction across both communities. Freeform crochet is arguably the epitome of playing with textures.
