Trends come and go; this is my review of what’s been popular in the fiber arts world. Let's get started!
Fusion & Modular Magic
Mixing stitches and mixing crafts ✨
Modular crochet such as joining hexes, flowers, panels and more offered customizable canvases and stash-yarn solutions. Projects that blended knitting and crochet, or combined crochet with embroidery/beadwork also showed up more often. Have you seen the crochet geodes? Absolutely beautiful work! Imagine making one for every birthstone, or even just your favorite gemstone.

Wearable Crochet Beyond Summer
This year we said “crochet for all seasons!”No longer just breezy beach tops, crochet moved into year-round fashion: structured dresses, shorts, sweaters, cardigans and even resort wear embraced the hook’s versatility, often stitched with fine yarns and fashion-forward silhouettes.

Home Decor & Functional Fiber Art
Yarn isn’t just for wearables anymore! Crochet and knit textures spilled into interiors via voluminous blankets, textured cushion covers, mug rugs, and wall hangings. All became “must-make” décor items.

Inclusive & Flexible Pattern Design
Crafting for everybody and every body!
We’re seeing a rise in pattern designers focusing on inclusive sizing and gender-neutral styles, broadening the fiber arts community’s welcoming vibe and accessibility. Making with people in mind, not boxes. A celebration of self-expression and confidence, as if dancing like no one's watching!
Community & Handmade Culture Surge
Hands-on togetherness. 🫶
There continues to be an increase of younger makers jumping into this “grandma” hobby. They are forging social connections through knitting circles, online KALs/CALs (knit-alongs and crochet-alongs), and sharing projects far and wide across the internet.
Honorable Mentions
Have you seen the star-shaped onesies for babies? As my MIL would say "Too cute"! Fiber artists also took on their version of the "is it cake" challenge by making hyper-realistic foods. Knit socks were really showing off! The intricacies, the details, and most of all the scenescapes are remarkable.
